Automation Outfitters builds panels for a variety of end users. One of their customers is Camfil Air Pollution Control, a dust collector manufacturer. Camfil needed a smaller control panel to fit an existing machine. Automation Outfitters redesigned the panel to fit compactly and aesthetically into the Camfil APC dust collector equipment.
Camfil APC turns to Automation Outfitters for research and design services on a variety of control panels for their line of dust collector equipment. Automation Outfitters, a long-time customer of Sprecher + Schuh, purchases a wide variety of products for their panel shop in Arkansas. These panels include control solutions for basic motor controls, material handling, lighting for sports stadiums, pharmaceutical equipment, and a range of other original equipment. One particular project for Camfil APC required the redesign of an existing panel to be much smaller and to fit better with the existing equipment. Automation Outfitter design engineer David Williamson chose to use a custom enclosure to make this happen.
The GSP series from Camfil is a compact 4’ x 4’ dust collector package sold to metal working facilities. Included in the control panel are an L11 Disconnect Switch, CA7 contactor, CEP7 overload relay, Relpol relays, V7 Terminal blocks, and an L11 handle and D7 Pilot Devices on the front. The control panel of the unit was a standard 20 x 20 x 8“ gray enclosure mounted to the side of the dust collector unit and added about one third to the size of the unit. Since it was mounted to the side, the controls were located away from the operator. Camfil needed something smaller and more conveniently located.
