A mechanical contractor in Arlington, Texas was facilitating a large electrical package for a distribution and manufacturing facility. Each building required a fan to tie into the fire alarm system for heat removal and smoke evacuation. Prior to contacting Sprecher + Schuh, the contractor was purchasing individual enclosed starters to control the fans.
Sprecher + Schuh showed the contractor how to combine the multiple starters into one multi-starter panel. This custom multi-starter panel (above) connected all the fans for the complex in one simple unit. The original design called for multiple starters connected to respective circuit breakers in a separate power distribution panel. This required individual wire and conduit connections from each breaker to each starter in the control panel.
On subsequent orders, Sprecher + Schuh helped the mechanical contractor once again redesign the panel using KTA7 Self-Protected Combination Motor Circuit Controllers (below). This redesign eliminated the need for individual circuit breakers in a nearby power distribution panel and replaced them with the need for one main breaker. The second generation unit provides higher withstand ratings, improved motor protection, and less field installation time.
