Next, the regional manager and his customer tackled the OEM's safety concerns. Due to the starter panel driving multiple types of motors, the motors often trip because of an overload or jam condition. The OEM did not have any maintenance personnel to manage the controls for the starter panel. Thus, they needed a solution to easily reset the overload trip from the outside of the panel.
Because of the quantity of CEP7 in the panel, it was not practical to use standard reset rods or the CEP7-ERID module.
Sprecher + Schuh provided a practical solution; to use the CEP7-ERR remote reset side-module on every CEP7 overload relay. The CEP7-ERR easily connects to the side of the overload relay and provides an adjustable dip switch automatic or manual reset mode in 1 or 3 phase relay type operation.
Thus, the customer is able to reset a tripped overload relay with only one reset button with a regular NO contact. If a CEP7 trips, the reset button will reset without affecting the condition of other motors who remain in operation. Just one reset button takes care of all the CEP7 overload relays in the panel.
The CEP7-ERR reset module saved on space and provided the safety requirements the OEM needed.
