Question:

What happens when the test button is depressed on the CEP7-ED1/EE overload relays? Will activating the test button show up as a trip on the overload relay? Do the CT7N and CT8 Overload Relays react in the same manner?

Answer:

The normally closed auxiliary contact opens (terminals 95-96) when the test trip button is pressed.

On the CEP7 Overload Relay the trip status window doesn't change to indicate a trip and the normally open contact (terminals 97-98) do not change state.

If you want the NC contact to open, the NO auxiliary to close, and the trip status window to change color, you can accomplish this by rotating the test trip screw counter clockwise.

This procedure is the same for CT7N and CT8 overload relays.
