What Conditions Will Cause An F1 Fault On The PF Softstarter?

Answer:

Once the PF softstarter synchronizes itself to the incoming line power, it will continue to verify that all 3 line voltages are present (Note: For the PF softstarter to properly sync, at least one line must be detected).

The following conditions will cause an F1 Line Fault on the PF softstarter:

  • If, at any time while operating the motor, it is determined that any phase voltage is not present an F1 fault will be generated. A phase is considered not present if the phase to neutral voltage falls below 25 volts for 100 mSec.
  • If at any time the phase relationship of the zero-cross detection is more than 30 degrees in error for 180 cycles (3 seconds), an F1 fault will be generated.
  • Multiple zero cross detections can be detected on a power system that has electrical noise, which will also cause an F1 fault.
  • If minimum phase current is less than 2/3 of the maximum phase current for 7 consecutive cycles, this condition will also cause an F1 fault.
